Demystifying the book publication process: A conversation with UC Press editors

Acquisitions editors from the University of California Press will provide tips for reaching out to acquisitions editors, including how to write a compelling book proposal, how to revise your dissertation, and what is involved in securing a book contract. They will also talk about the UC Press First Gen Program, which supports the work of first-generation scholars.

The event will be held on Sept. 18, 2024, from 2 to 4 p.m., in Royce Hall room 236.

The conversation will focus on authors in the humanities and social sciences.

Participating editors are:

• Niels Hooper, executive editor (areas of interest: history of the U.S. and ‘U.S. in the world,’ American studies, Middle Eastern history and world history)
• Michelle Lipinski, senior editor (general interest, economics and technology studies)
• LeKeisha Hughes, associate editor (music and art history)
• Enrique Ochoa-Kaup, associate editor (Asian studies and Latin American studies; series editor for Transpacific Studies, Global Korea, and New Interventions in Japanese Studies)
