On August 30, 2018 Lecturer Georgiana Galateanu was honored by the President of Romania, Mr. Klaus Iohannis, with the Cultural Merit (Cavalier Order) Decoration for Promoting the Teaching of Romanian Language, Literature, and Civilization Abroad. This was one of only two awards presented to American scholars in connection with Romanian Language Day (August 31st), which this year coincided with centennial celebrations of the unification of Transylvania and Romania (December 1st). Our heartiest congratulations to Dr. Galateanu for this new award, and for her many ongoing contributions to the Slavic Department, the Division and University!
