Chamber Music at the Clark raises the curtain on 30th season

A performance by the New York-based Calidore String Quartet kicked off the 30th season of Chamber Music at the Clark.
The Nov. 17 recital was dedicated to the memory of Peter Hanns Reill (1938–2019), who founded the concert series and served for nearly two decades as its director.
In addition to the Calidore’s performance, the program featured remarks by Distinguished Professor Carla Pestana, director of the Center for 17th- and 18th-Century Studies and the William Andrews Clark Library; Distinguished Professor Rogers Brubaker, artistic director of the concert series; Lee Walcott, managing director emeritus of The Ahmanson Foundation; and Bruce Whiteman, librarian emeritus of the Clark.
The Calidore String Quartet was founded at the Colburn School in Los Angeles and is recognized as one of the foremost interpreters of chamber music.
Chamber Music at the Clark began in 1994 as a tribute to William Andrews Clark Jr., who was an accomplished violinist and the founder of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. The 30th anniversary season continues through May 2025 with performances by some of the world’s leading ensembles. All concerts are presented in the Clark Library’s intimate and acoustically superb drawing room. The 2024–25 lineup:
