Works-in-Progress Happy Hour

Feb 10, 2021 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Zoom Meeting,

Professor Adriana Vasquez, Classics, UCLA

“The Influence of Vergil’s Epic Program on Gabriel Pereira de Castro’s Poem Ulisseia ou Lisboa Edificada (1636)”

CMRS is hosting twice-monthly Works-in-Progress Happy Hours to promote intellectual exchange and collegiality while most of us are continuing to work and learn remotely. The Happy Hours are open to UCLA faculty and graduate students and consist of a short informal presentation followed by open discussion.

Adriana Vazquez joined the Classics Department at UCLA in 2017. In addition to the research interests exemplified by her dissertation, “Vates and Initiates: Augustan Poetic Manipulation of Greek Mystery Cult,” she has pursued research in topics in Classical Reception, with a focus on Spanish- and Portuguese-language poetry of the Iberian Peninsula and South America. My research interests also include ancient literary criticism, Neo-Latin poetic production, and translation theory.

Open to UCLA graduate students and faculty. Please write to Erin Romo, Program Coordinator at the Center for Medieval & Renaissance Studies to register for the Zoom link.
