Alexandra Minna Stern
Alexandra Minna Stern, Ph.D., has served as dean of the UCLA Division of Humanities since November 2022. As dean, she has prioritized strengthening programs in urban, public, environmental and health humanities, and rebuilding community in the division following the COVID-19 pandemic. She also is spearheading a University of California–wide initiative to support online instruction for global languages. The effort, which includes partnerships with UC Online, UC humanities deans and the UC Office of the President, is meant to preserve and bolster the teaching of less commonly taught languages, which has come under significant pressure.
