Gain behind-the-scenes industry insights in film, production, and marketing from  a selected group of panelists in the entertainment industry! Panelists will discuss how a degree in the Humanities led to their careers and the many diverse types of career paths available in the industry.

Trish Ananiades
Vice President of Business Affairs, NBC Universal

Trisha Ananiades (BA ’04, M.Ed. ’06) is a Vice President of Business Affairs for Universal Studio Group, a division of NBCUniversal, where she structures and negotiates deals for above-the-line talent (e.g., actors, directors, producers, and writers) for shows produced by USG intended for exhibition on broadcast or cable linear television and streaming services.  She counsels creative and production executives on deal strategy and works with talent-side lawyers and agents on a routine basis to negotiate deals. Prior to her work for NBCUniversal, Trisha got her start in business affairs at Disney Branded Television, a division of The Walt Disney Company, where she structured and negotiated deals for original television shows and TV movies for kids and families intended for Disney Channel and Disney+.

Prior to moving into business affairs, Trisha worked in legal affairs at Disney Branded Television and at DreamWorks Animation where she worked on live action and animated TV shows, and for Tinopolis USA, where she got her start in the entertainment industry working on unscripted/reality television projects such as “Team Ninja Warrior” and “Top Chef”. Trisha got her start in the legal field as a corporate attorney at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher in Los Angeles primarily working in mergers and acquisitions and capital markets.

After a five year career working in education, Trisha graduated from Harvard Law School in 2012 where she served as an Executive Editor for the Journal of Sports and Entertainment Law, was a teaching assistant for the course “Representing the Professional Athlete”, and was a legal intern for the Boston Celtics.

 

Rosemary Brennan
Senior Manager, Marketing CBS

Rosemary Brennan is a diplomatic marketer with over 10 years of experience creating compelling and innovative content in the entertainment and media space. She has executive produced after shows for Big Brother, Love Island, and The Amazing Race. Most recently, she collaborated with Survivor’s Jeff Probst to develop Game Within The Game, a second-screen experience for the show’s dedicated young fans. She’s currently a Senior Manager, Marketing for CBS. At the network, she drives product marketing strategy, including the launch of the CBS AVOD App in March 2021, resulting in No. 1 App Store rankings across multiple categories. A former journalist, she has also held positions at Architectural Digest, Glamour, and E! News. She is the proud daughter of a Filipino immigrant and has a passion for inclusive and impactful storytelling. She graduated from UCLA in 2006 with a BA in English.

Mary Belay
Program Manager, Learning & Development at The Walt Disney

Mary Belay is currently a Program Manager, Learning & Development at The Walt Disney Company where she’s a part of building programs that enable individual, team, and leadership performance. Mary’s career journey since graduating UCLA with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology included completing graduate studies at Columbia University to specialize in clinical practice and taking that knowledge and skills set to work in various people performance enablement roles in the for-profit and non-profit sector. Mary has an enthusiasm for applying the knowledge gained from her studies to make a positive impact while being a continuous learner which has helped to shape her career experiences.

Tyler Drohan
Associate Producer ESPN

Tyler Drohan is an Emmy award-winning Associate Producer at ESPN, where he has worked since graduating from UCLA in 2013. He works on ESPN’s flagship show SportsCenter, the late-night edition based out of Los Angeles and headlined by Neil Everett, Stan Verrett and Linda Cohn. Working behind the camera, he has produced multiple shows, celebrity guest segments, feature and field productions as well as editing high-end content for the daily show.

Tyler began his career at ESPN headquarters in Bristol, CT before moving to the Los Angeles office in 2015. Among his career highlights, he has worked at or on the 2014 FIFA World Cup, the World Series, the College Football Playoffs and the ESPYS. Before joining ESPN, he worked at the UCLA Daily Bruin, San Gabriel Valley Tribune and Time Warner Cable Sports. Tyler has a passion for sports and storytelling, and applies that daily to generate the best content for shows. For his contributions to the 2020 edition of SportsCenter, he was awarded a National Sports Emmy.

Amanda Raymond
Associate Director Alumni Career Engagement

As Associate Director for Alumni Career Engagement, Amanda collaborates with UCLA alumni, faculty, and employers to help students prepare for the transition from college to career. She oversees programs such as Job Ready! and the Bruin Development Academy for Media and Entertainment as well as coordinates professional development opportunities and collaborative instruction for Communication and Humanities majors. Prior to joining UCLA, Amanda developed and managed a variety of experiential education programs for UCI and The Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars in Washington, D.C. She holds a B.A. in Communication and M.A. in Counseling with a concentration in College Student Development from the University of San Diego.
