POP-UP COLLOQUIUM:October 6th, 3-5 pm, GSEIS 111

Professor Johanna Drucker will present work-in-progress from the 3DH (3- Dimensional/Digital Humanities) project begun at the University of Hamburg to create “next-generation visualizations for digital humanities”. The project focuses on a nonrepresentational,
modelling approach to design of an graphical environment for interpretative work. The talk will outline the epistemological frameworks of the project, including the distinction between modelling and representation, conceptual activities vs. discovery tools, and hermeneutic vs. mechanistic/algorithmic principles. In addition, the talk will touch on the process of research development at the intersection of the interests and exepertise of a diverse team of partners. As a presentation of work-in-progress, the talk is meant as an invitation for input in the design, development, and intellectual frameworks of the project. For documentation on the project see:
