Patrick Boucheron has been Professor at the Collège de France since 2015 (chair in History of Powers in Western Europe from the 13th to the 16th century). He specializes in the European Middle Ages, particularly in Italy. His work also concerns the writing of history and changes in the discipline. It was in this spirit that he wrote Histoire Mondiale de la France (Seuil, 2017, translated as France in the World: A New Global History (Other Press, 2019)). His most recent translations into English are The Power of Images: Siena, 1338 (Polity Books, 2018), Machiavelli: The Man Who Taught the People What They Have to Fear (Other Press, 2020) and Trace and Aura: The Recurring Lives of St. Ambrose of Milan (Other Press, 2022). Since 2017, he has partnered with the Théatre National de Bretagne (TNB, Renne) and he is currently resident at the Villa Albertine (New York, Boston, Chicago).
