California Medieval History Seminar, Winter 2019

The Winter 2019 session of the California Medieval History Seminar meets at the Huntington Library to discuss four pre-distributed research papers. Participants are scholars in the field at various stages of their careers. All attendees at the seminar are expected to read the papers in advance and discuss the research.   • Jenna Phillips (John Hopkins University), “’Deep Play’: Tournaments, Veterans, and the Heroic Imagination in northern France, 1200-1302”
  • Rowan Dorin (Stanford University), “Reception and Resistance: Episcopal Lawmaking in Late Medieval Europe”
