Afternoon Professionalization Workshop

During the first half of this professionalization seminar on the academic job market, a panel will share their experiences in the recent job market, both as applicants and as hiring committee members. A Q&A will follow. In the second half, we will talk about strategies for writing effective application materials and will workshop some of these common materials, such as CV’s, cover letters, and teaching philosophy statements. Please bring a printed copy of the materials you hope to workshop.

 

Dr. Julia Troche received her B.A. in History from UCLA in 2008. Her Ph.D. was awarded by Brown University in 2015 with the dissertation “Origins of Apotheosis in Ancient Egypt.” From 2015-2016 she was an Instructor of History at Missouri State University, where she taught World History to 1600 CE and courses in Ancient Egyptian and Near Eastern history. Currently, she is a Lecturer of Egyptology for the Near Eastern Languages and Culture department at UCLA.
