Xaviera Flores

Xaviera Flores is the Librarian and Archivist at the UCLA Chicano Studies Research Center. She oversees all library, archives, and museum (LAM) services, including outreach, instruction, grant projects, and donor relations. She has a BA in Film Studies from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln (UNL) and an MS in Library and Information Science with an Archives Management and Audiovisual Preservation concentration from Simmons College. She’s worked in libraries since 2004, and for such institutions as: The John F. Kennedy Presidential Library, Arizona State University, Boston College, UNL, and now, UCLA. In 2014, she co-authored the paper “Breaking the Language Barrier: Describing Chicano Archives with Bilingual Finding Aids,” in the American Archivist; and she continues to break down barriers to provide access and preserve the rich, diverse collective memory of Chicanos/Latinos in the U.S.

Erika Hirugami

Erika Hirugami is the Founder and CEO of CuratorLove. As a Getty Foundation Scholar and a Kress Foundation Fellow she has formed a part of various curatorial teams at museums and galleries across the United States and Mexico. After being a Public Art Curator for the Department of Cultural Affairs in the City of Los Angeles, Erika became the Curatorial Director for the Ronald McDonald House Charities. Erika holds and MAAB from the Sotheby’s Institute of Art in conjunction with the Drucker School of Management at CGU and the Getty Leadership Institute.  As well as various BAs from UCLA in the fields of Art History, Mexican Studies and Chicano Studies.

Kabir Singh

Kabir Singh is Associate Educator, Family Programs at the Skirball Cultural Center, where he develops and teaches programs for intergenerational audiences. He is a writer and Los Angeles native and has been teaching in museums since 2008. Kabir is dedicated to making museums more inclusive, accessible, and welcoming. He serves as the National Art Education Association (NAEA) Museum Education Division Pacific Regional Representative-Elect and has previously served on the board of Museum Educators of Southern California (MESC). Kabir holds an EdM in Arts in Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and a BA in Art History from Columbia University. Kabir began his career in the arts as a Getty Multicultural Undergraduate Intern.

Theresa Sotto

Theresa Sotto is the Assistant Director of Academic Programs, Hammer Museum where she oversees educational programming for university, family, and K-12 school audiences. Theresa has worked at the crossroads of education and the arts since 2001. Prior to joining the Hammer, she worked at the Getty Museum, the University of Arizona Poetry Center, and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts; and she served as a consultant for the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the UCLA Chicano Studies Research Center. In 2015, she was the recipient of the National Art Education Association’s Pacific Region Museum Education Art Educator award. She regularly serves on advisory committees, most recently for the National Art Education Association’s Peer2Peer initiative, the Getty’s Pacific Standard Time: LA/LA education initiatives, and the UCLA Confucius Institute’s China Arts Fellowship. Theresa received her MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Arizona and is also a published poet.
